If you are 25 and not married then according to people you have way past your being a bride expiration date. Which is one of the concepts beyond our understanding. Our society thinks of single and independent women “hopeless” when it comes to having a settled life. There are some serious misconceptions that need to be eradicated. Have a look at some of the assumptions that people make
“She must be so materialistic!” –
Some people think that a women life revolves around money and that they can replace anyone with it. That’s not true! Though, there are some women who would prefer money, their career, job and material stuff over relations; But, generalising everyone is not right! Nothing can replace the love and compassion that every women need in her life.
” She must be having really high standards. Aasman per dimagh hoga” –
Well, maybe she’s waiting for the right guy, or maybe she is focusing on her career and doesn’t want distractions, or maybe she’s just happy with the way her life is right now! And what’s wrong with taking time and waiting for the right person anyway? A woman’s independent lifestyle is often mistaken for arrogance… Or for the fact that she has unrealistically high standards.
“Umar hogai hai, loog rishta kerna chahte hi nahi honge iss se” –
No. Not everyone has conservative and stereotype thinking. Maybe she is just single by choice and NOT because people are not taking rishtas at her place because she is past her “Shadi ki umer” or there is something wrong with her. Perhaps, she knows what kind of a partner she wants and doesn’t want to settle anything less than that.

Who gave you any right to present a character certificate for anyone? Maybe she is the one who rejected all the rishtas or she isn’t just mentally prepared yet. She is working because she likes doing it and her career is important to her, not because her parents has abandoned her.
” She must be afraid of commitment ” –
Maybe she’s just a girl who wants to live life on her on terms, including her decision to marry someone. NOT because she likes dating with people and is afraid to commit to one. But according to society, there has to be something wrong with a girl if she is single, right?
” Girls this independent, make for terrible partners anyway ” –
Why is it that people think that working women can’t handle their household or make worse partners? This is nothing but a conservative approach. She might be the best cook you have ever met or a die hard caring wife. She must be having many other traits. If you don’t know her enough to understand that, you shouldn’t be making assumptions about what kind of a partner she would be.
” She is too practical to love someone or value her husband” –
We are sure she will love her husband with all herself if he is not a judgemental and stereotype person like the rest of the society. She actually may just be a die hard romantic, taking her own sweet time to find the one who loves her for her unapologetic self. A woman can handle her home and work perfectly and with equal dedication.
Our society should understand that there is nothing wrong in being single. And there is nothing wrong is getting a good education and working. These are the choices that every girl has a right to make for herself!
