Beauty Sleep.

Beauty sleep is real unless someone has a team of makeup experts waiting in the bathroom every morning to make him/her look good. It is hard to look youthful with a skipping sleep. The lack of sleep may contribute to periorbital hyperpigmentation, also known as “Dark Circles”. That is why a peaceful sleep of 7-9 hours is recommended to wake you up to gorgeous skin.

Sunscreen.

Sunlight is the only cause of more than 80 percent of the visible signs of ageing, such as freckling, skin thinning, wrinkles, facial lines and may contribute to the development of skin cancer. Regular use of a “broad-spectrum” sunscreens that block both UVB and UVA light and reapply every two hours when outside in the sun is advised. Moreover, avoiding direct sunlight during the hours when UV rays are the strongest and supplement sunscreen with shade, protective clothing and sunglasses may help to reduce the sunburn effect. Just because it’s cold or cloudy outside, doesn’t mean that SPF is not needed, sun damage can still happen.

Finding your inner peace zone is essential. Chronic physical and mental stress cause surges of cortisol in the body. It is a hormone that breaks down collagen and elastin, leading to wrinkles. Stress may also worsen certain skin conditions, like psoriasis.

Moisturise.

Hydration is crucial for healthy skin. Moisturisers slow down water loss through the superficial layers of the skin and strengthen the skin barriers. For sensitive skin, products with “ceramides,” are best as it is one of the three types of lipids present in the skin.

In the dry winters, it is essential to ramp up the moisturiser use on the whole body. Then, when the air is humid in warm weather, the skin may ease up. People with perfect skin knows how dry their skin may be and how important it is to keep skin moist.

If you want a fresh-glow all the time, log a few hours a week to get sweaty. A minimum of 30 minutes activity at least five days a week is recommended to reverse the signs of ageing.

Washout before Bed.

Micro-particles from air pollutants may hurt your skin more than you can even imagine. Play it safe by taking a minute to cleanse your face and remove un-seen dirt that may weaken the skin, take off the makeup as well.

Say No to Sugar.

The daily candy habit is not just damaging the waistline; it fastens the ageing of the face too. Foods that are high in processed sugars and white carbs create an increase in cortisol through a process called “glycosylation”. It is a process where sugars bind to collagen and weaken it. Creating a beautiful skin inside out is possible by making sure the diet includes healthy fats such as olive oil, omega 3s (walnuts and salmon), antioxidants (green veggies), and vitamin C (berries and citrus fruits).

Be Gentle.

Scrubbing the face raw to get it clean may damage it more because one of the biggest hidden culprits of skin trouble is working too hard on it. Moreover, using too many products, harshly scrubbing, or over-exfoliating the skin may all lead to increased inflammation, swelling, clogging pores, blemishes and redness.  Hence, it is important to treat the skin gently and limiting exfoliating to once a week.

Never Pick.

Picking at pimples to the point that the epidermis is disrupted and there are a little bleeding means you’ve created a permanent scar. It is recommended to treat blemishes gently, steaming them or minimally applying medication to avoid burns or permanent damage. If a pimple is too stubborn, a dermatologist may give you a tiny diluted cortisone injection to help the deep inflammation resolve.

No Smoking.

Despite health hazards, flawless skin is one more reason to quit smoking for good. Smoking causes fine lines around mouth, greyish-looking skin as well as yellow stained teeth and nails. Moreover, Nicotine destroys skin substructures leaving it saggy and listless.

No Junks.
