WEARING IT TOO HIGH OR TOO LOW –
Make sure you place your saree and petticoat at the right place and in a complete sync with each other. If you have a long blouse you don’t have to wear your saree too low because your belly is not showing, otherwise your saree will slip further down putting you in an awkward situation. For that , you should wear a short blouse. Wearing it too high will just look funny, it might also cause your petticoat to peek from below.
OVER PINNING OR UNDER PINNING –
Too many pins may cluster and cause unwanted holes in your saree. Make sure you use the right pins at the right spot that your saree gets secured properly and the fabric is also saved from the torture. But be careful, you have to use pins to secure the drapes of your saree! otherwise it would just fall to the ground as you move.
BEING ACCESSORIES KI DUKAN –
DONT WEAR TOO MANY JEWELRY! saree itself is a elegant dress but if your over accessorise it , it will just spoil your look and make it look unfashionable or classy. If you have a plain saree go heavy on your neck but light on your ears. Similarly, if your saree is heavy wear very delicate jewelry.
WRONG BLOUSE, WRONG PLACE –
It is wise to reuse a single blouse with different sarees, but in doing so be careful if the blouse is really going with that saree or not. Dont wear a mismatched blouse or your whole look will be spoiled. And if you are getting a blouse stitched know whether or not your tailor is confident about stitching a similar one for you. And secondly, also be sure about whether you want to carry off a particular neckline and back design, and whether it will suit you.
IGNORING THE LENGTH OF PALLU –
It is important to match the length of the pallu with your height. It shouldn’t be too long or too short. pre-pleat your saree before you even begin to drape it on your waist. This will give you a better idea of the exact length of your pallu.
COLOUR MISMATCH –
Don’t make the mistake of matching your eye makeup to your lip colour to your blouse or even jewellery like bangles etc. Don’t do that!! It used to be a trend in olden days, but not anymore. GO for colour – blocking technique. Make suitable contrasts. Red on red will only make you look dull, but a red saree paired with a bronze blouse and gold jewellery will get you noticed, in a good way!
DRAPE IT, DONT WRAP IT –
Draping mistakes are the most common mistakes women do when wearing saree. Thought draping is the most important step in wearing saree as it creates the whole figure of your body and creates the look of it. A front pallu or something more complicated so leave it for now.
CHOOSING WRONG FOOTWEAR –
Sarees are tiring to carry around, so make sure your heels are comfortable enough. You should wear heel;s on saree since it gives a nice look but also prevents the saree from sliding under the feet and coming off.
CHOOSING THE WRONG MATERIAL –
Cotton sarees are stiff and hard to manage if you have to move around. They are best suited to older women. If you are young and don’t have saree experience g for the saffon, crepe or satin ones.
