This is an inspirational stories for all brides-to-be who are determined to get the perfect body for their wedding. You can do it!
I nearly lost it while losing my weight!
Being “zero sized” became a trend just after Kareena Kapoor drastically changed herself from being hatti katti to single haddi. Most people, instead of having a normal weight, started to visualise themselves as her. It seemed like people were are going crazy trying to achieve the ‘zero size’ or maybe an almost invisible physique!
Well, I shouldn’t be pointing others out as I am also included in the list of extremists who could cross any limit to shrink their size. The journey of losing weight started just after I completed my intermediate. While I was a college girl, I weighed 57 kilos that was a bit more for my 5.4-ft height. I used to admire slim people and always wished to have the same physique as them. However, my passion for losing weight was stimulated even more when people started passing comments on me. Among all the irritating comments, one was, “apni umer se bari lagti hai”. That comment would seriously make me lose my mind! I just wanted to isolate myself.
Thanks to Kareena Kapoor, she came as a true inspiration for all the overweighted people. My mind completely changed when I saw Kareena in her not-so-hit movie, TASHAN! The girl just sent shock waves throughout the world. The way she transformed herself into a zero-size girl was remarkable and inspirational. She became my motivation to accept the challenge of losing weight. I just kept one thing in mind, “If she can do it, why can’t I?” So here is how I started:
What did I do for dieting?
Eating habits
I changed my eating habits. I did a thorough research on the diet food and started my intake accordingly. I even knew a number of calories in half-a-gulab-jamun! I have never been so calculative in my life before LOL. My extremism caused me to say a big NO to sugar, potato or rice, etc (which I shouldn’t have). I started eating just 1 roti a day. However, that also reduced to a half in a couple of days! Moreover, I mostly had dal or vegetable soups to keep myself moving.
One of the things that helped me a lot in losing weight was “warm water”. I always had a glass of warm water just before breakfast. It became a habit to drink warm water before having food.
Dos and Don’ts of Dieting:
Here are some of the things you should consider when you are dieting:
- Do consult a proper nutritionist that can help you out with the food intake and exercises
- Don’t follow any tips that people give you without authentication
- Do a good research on healthy foods and eating habits
- Do keep yourself energetic by eating fruits daily
- Don’t skip milk!
Last but not the least, don’t say NO to the food. You will remain healthy and active if you take all the important vitamins, minerals, fats and carbohydrates for your body. You can have a small amount of food, but don’t put a complete ban on them; it is a serious mistake! ☺
Exercising
Now people see me and assume that I must have gone through vigorous exercises in the gym. Well, that’s completely wrong. I used to do yoga at my home. I also bought a book with simple exercising tips and followed them. I used to drink a hot cup of green tea after each exercise to satisfy my thirst. I was so…so harsh on myself!
After doing in-depth research, I couldn’t find a reason to join a gym. Nonetheless, I did join it, but soon got disappointed by their workout procedures. I left the gym in one week and started to put my own efforts in that and no doubt it delivered results beyond and above my expectations.
Dos and Don’ts of exercising:
- Don’t stop exercising after a few days
- Don’t start with a heavy workout otherwise, you will get demotivated soon
- Do research good workouts for your body goals
- Do try to find a good gym but don’t break your bank for one
- Do exercise regularly
- Do keep yourself hydrated after a workout!
How much did I lose?
I was extremely happy when I lost 10 kilos in the first 6 months of the diet plan. People started admiring me. I felt as if I was becoming the star of the show! Therefore, I decided to move at a faster pace.
I started skipping meals three times a day!! That made me lose 5 kilos in the 7th month and another 7 kilos in the 8th month. I LOST 22 KILOS IN JUST 8 MONTHS. For me, that’s was a tremendous achievement!
What problems did I face?
I faced a number of problems that are mentioned below:
- I felt weak all the time
- I was unable to cope up with the hot weather
- I would faint most of the times
- My parents faced a lot of criticism from my relatives
- My hairs lost all the shine
- I had an extreme hair fall
- My face lost all the glow
- I couldn’t get a dress of my size
- I loved rings but couldn’t wear them because my hands were too slim to hold them
Among all the problems mentioned above, the one that broke my heart was the negative remarks given to my parents. I couldn’t bear it and started eating a bit more to gain some weight. I started eating fruits and having milk. I gradually gained some weight. Now I weigh 47 kilos, and I am happy with that. However, I believe that I just need three kilos more to get the perfect physique!
